JOB PURPOSE

The Customer Business Development Group is seeking a Category & Shopper Insight Associate. Reporting to the Category & Shopper Insight Manager, the successful candidate will support the Category Advisor Team in implementing best practice category management initiatives. This position is based at the Ontario Head Office in Toronto, Ontario.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual category reports to understand trends and opportunities.
  • Provide analytics on ad-hoc requests and support the Category Advisor in generating insights both internally and externally.
  • Assist with planogram reporting, including vendor listings and distribution analysis.
  • Support store/cluster-level analytics to determine optimal assortment, including additions, deletions, and facing adjustments.
  • Help build planograms for internal and external requests.
  • Provide diagnostics and trend insights for internal launch support and other requests.
  • Leverage loyalty and other data sources to compile shareable trend and performance analyses.
  • Monitor the performance of implemented changes and conduct post-evaluation analyses.
  • Create and manage a UPC/product library for rapid analysis across multiple data sources.
  • Monthly coding of Nielsen Unspecifieds.
  • Identify process gaps and develop solutions to improve efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • University degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines independently.
  • Experience with customer-facing presentations is a plus.
  • Experience in category insight, trade management, or Nielsen data is beneficial.
  • Excellent command of English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of market research tools like MarketTrack and Homescan.
  • Previous retail or manufacturer category management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Shelf/Space Management software.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing.
