Overview

This hybrid position will be located at our Corporate Office in Toronto, Canada. Expectations for hybrid in-office schedule are three days a week, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Foot Locker, Inc. is hiring an Associate Buyer in our Champs Sports division supporting the Footwear category. The Associate Buyer is responsible for assisting the Buyer with the overall merchandising direction of a category or department(s), aiming to meet and exceed sales and margin targets. The role involves building a trend-setting business by incorporating consumer insights, business analytics, and competitive intelligence. Responsibilities include assisting with purchases, merchandise negotiations, partnering with Merchandise Planners to develop financial strategies, and working closely with Merchandising, Marketing, and Store Optimization teams to deliver a compelling customer experience with the right product assortments.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in developing an overall product strategy to maximize sales, gross margin, and inventory turnover.
  2. Partner with the E-commerce team to enhance digital performance.
  3. Collaborate with Marketing to create engaging, product-driven storytelling.
  4. Work with Financial Planners to ensure purchases meet financial metrics.
  5. Prepare information for recapping, seasonal planning, and open-to-buy meetings.
  6. Build product assortments based on business results and market trends.
  7. Analyze reports with Merchandisers for store-level opportunities and risks.
  8. Manage product feature calendar and sample flow supporting marketing efforts.
  9. Track inbound products from shipment to store delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of retail and/or e-commerce merchandising experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Power BI and Oracle PeopleSoft is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends, customer preferences, and marketplace dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills and financial acumen.
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative and strategic thinking skills.
  • Approximately 10% travel expected.

Benefits

The annual base salary ranges from CAD 67,000 to CAD 73,000, plus eligibility for short-term incentives based on performance.
