An innovative firm is seeking an Associate Business Solutions Consultant to transform public sector operations through applied AI. This exciting 4-month paid internship will allow you to work with diverse stakeholders, identifying high-value business problems and designing impactful AI/ML solutions. You will collaborate with project teams, conduct workshops, and prepare insightful reports, all while receiving mentorship to enhance your skills. We transform the way you think about applied AI. Teams are structured around projects for the public sector, guided by the Project Delivery Manager, Product Owner, and Senior machine learning developers, to provide working models to support informed strategic decision-making around the use of key AI technologies in the public sector.
This would be a 4-month paid contract starting September 2025 and ending in December 2025. Additionally, this opportunity may also be extended to an 8 or 12-month term; please indicate in your application if these options are of interest to you.
As an Associate Business Solutions Consultant, you will work with our Public Sector Partners, including Service Alberta, and project teams to identify high-value business problems that can be addressed with artificial intelligence or machine learning. Your focus will be on defining and communicating the business impact of your assigned AI/ML use case to senior stakeholders in government, as well as in organizational change management and adoption planning. Our mission is to set a global example of how to transform the public sector through applied AI and to foster growth in high-demand machine learning and AI skills across Alberta and worldwide.
During the 4-month program, you will be placed on a team working on specific use case(s) identified by our Public Sector Partners. The role involves understanding complex customer workflows, data, and business nuances to design AI/ML products. You will synthesize information into a clear understanding of the business problem and communicate it effectively across teams. The role demands balancing business requirements with customer needs and advocating for solutions that serve the customer best. You will collaborate across disciplines to conceptualize and define AI/ML solutions.
You will receive resources and mentorship to support your growth and career development. Teams are led by Project Delivery Managers and Product Owners using AltaML methodology to develop working models for viable use cases and guide implementation strategies with our Partners. Our goal is to prepare you for future employment after your internship.
This opportunity is funded by Mitacs and requires candidates to meet eligibility criteria. Open to students enrolled at the U of Alberta, U of Calgary (Masters only), Mount Royal U, U Waterloo, U of Toronto, or Queens U.
