Position Overview :

Benjamin Bridge is seeking an assistant winemaker to join our warm and welcoming production team. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a post-secondary winemaking program with a few years of hands-on harvest and cellar experience. Working closely with our director of winemaking and the production and operations teams, the assistant winemaker will be involved in all stages of wine production—from grape to bottle to release – and, with experience, have an eagerness to grow and take on further responsibilities within our close-knit team. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, technically skilled, and enthusiastic team player who embodies our values and is excited to contribute to our continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Analyze grape samples to determine sugar levels, acidity, and ripeness.
  • Participate in grape crushing and pressing, juice settling, and fermentation.
  • Conduct routine laboratory analyses to monitor grape and wine quality.
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and chemicals.
  • Conduct bench-scale trials, microbiological testing, and sensory evaluations.
  • Participate in all production processes, including but not limited to blending, transferring, filtering, bottling, disgorging, packaging.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of cellar and lab equipment and spaces.
  • Maintain accurate winemaking records using inventory software.

Qualifications :

  • Degree or diploma in Oenology / Viticulture from a recognized institution with a minimum of three harvests’ experience in a cellar role.
  • Strong analytical and recordkeeping skills.
  • Comfortable with physically demanding work and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with winery software (e.g., Vintrace or Ekos is a plus).
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required due to the seasonality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with the public and serve as a brand ambassador.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Permitted to work in Canada
