Assistant Water Engineer - Southern California

We are seeking an Entry-Level Assistant Water Engineer to work with designers, planners, project managers, and technical leaders on water, wastewater, recycled water, and infrastructure projects. Under mentorship, you will gain experience in planning, design, leadership, and project optimization.

This role can be based in our San Diego, Ontario, or Laguna Hills offices with a flexible hybrid work arrangement. Some travel across California and Oregon may be required.

Responsibilities

1. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and optimize water infrastructure.
2. Assist in water, wastewater, and recycled water project planning and design, including scope, budget, and schedule management.
3. Support roles such as Project Manager or Engineer depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred or ongoing.
• Experience in delivering successful, collaborative projects with sustainable, energy-efficient, and innovative outcomes.
• Ability to define project goals and requirements clearly.
• Team-oriented mindset with a passion for collaboration and learning.
• Active involvement in professional associations and awareness of industry trends.
• Strong communication skills, including proposal writing and technical documentation.
• Experience with CAD/BIM/Revit is a plus.
• Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Enthusiasm for mentoring and advocating within teams.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges from $68,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a 401(k), ESOP, disability insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and health programs.
