Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate all train movements within the yard and mainline through active supervision of personnel and communication across departments, ensuring compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan.
  2. Coordinate and standardize processes related to the operating plan, including arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains.
  3. Provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
  4. Lead Trains and Engines operating employees as a safety leader through active observations and discussions about rule compliance, implementing preventative measures through staff engagement.
  5. Occasionally operate trains; maintain necessary certifications and licenses (Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Engineer, etc.) as per industry regulations.
  6. Assist in crew transportation to and from trains.
Position Requirements
  • Previous railway experience as a conductor and Locomotive engineer qualification is an asset.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment is preferred.
  • Availability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions.
  • Strong leadership presence with a drive for career advancement.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and work situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including providing clear instructions over radio.
  • Ability to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other materials in English.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
