Permanent Full Time

We are looking for an Assistant Tax Reporting Manager to join our Taxation department to assist with the Income Tax Reporting function for Great-West Lifeco Inc and its Canadian subsidiaries.

As an Assistant Manager, Taxation, your role will be to primarily work on tax reporting and compliance for Great-West Lifeco Inc and its Canadian subsidiaries, partnerships, and trusts. This includes preparation and analysis of the quarterly tax provision under IFRS, budgeting for Canadian taxes and filing annual tax returns.

Reporting to the Manager, Taxation, you may assist in researching, and analyzing income tax issues for the purpose of tax accounting, tax audits, special transactions and/or tax planning.

Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and analyze quarterly and year-end income tax provisions, and balances under IFRS for financial statements and management reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and analyze the annual budget for Canadian financial and management reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and analyze the annual tax returns and related information returns for Canadian corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
  • Assist in research and document tax considerations and issues that arose from the preparation and review of the above provisions and returns.
  • Assist in preparing response to tax audit queries including investigating, researching and analyzing the tax issues and information required.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • University degree in a business-related field.
  • CPA designation or working towards completion.
  • 1 - 2 years taxation/accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel skill.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for learning and analyzing tax law.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Taxprep and/or financial reporting practices is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between $58,600 - $107,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
