Job description

Reporting to the Superintendent - Maintenance, you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for providing leadership for the Maintenance, Electrical and Planning/Reliability team in collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Provide vision and strategy to the Maintenance group in accordance to the operation and corporate objectives;
  • Work with managers and superintendents to coordinate efforts to achieve departmental goals and deliverables;
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to all mining aspects and technical issues;
  • Mentor and provide training for subordinates and ensure development of succession plans and staff development programs;
  • Review/develop/implement and lead maintenance strategies;
  • Collaborate in the various budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of allocated budget;
  • Revision and approval of communications and reporting (annual, monthly, project, etc);
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for Health and Safety culture and awareness.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is highly recommended;
  • 15 or more years of mining experience focused on mobile equipment and fixed plants;
  • 7 years of experience working at a similar level or higher;
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and project management;
  • Experience in managing department costs, budgeting and forecast;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine Mine is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
