As a full-time Assistant Store Manager, you are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager. You are a people leader, developing your ability to motivate a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. Through personal demonstration, training, and development, you support an in-store culture where customers say, “I’ll take it” and remain loyal to your store, our brands, and our company. You stay enthusiastic about the product and presentation of your store, keeping up with trends and supporting your team’s education. Most importantly, you LOVE shoes and help every customer experience a little bit of that Famous Feeling.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Inspire the Customer Connection: Foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships and operational excellence. Infuse coaching moments for selling behaviors behind our Customer Connection.
2. Champion Talent Discovery: Seek out and network with exceptional external talent, collaborating with the Store Manager to interview and hire passionate individuals committed to creating top-notch customer experiences.
3. Ace Retail Operations & Support Staffing Levels: Manage daily operations like pricing, shipping, and inventory, ensuring the store runs smoothly. Support staffing levels based on peak days and seasonal needs.
4. Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: Drive sales with purpose, using insights to improve results continually. Take accountability for your goals and their impact on overall performance.
5. Be a Culture Builder: Support a diverse and inclusive work environment where every associate feels valued. Lead by example, uplifting and supporting others to increase retention and performance.
6. Be our Store Manager’s Right Hand: Step in when the Store Manager is away, maintaining high standards, ensuring policy compliance, and developing internal talent in partnership with the Store Manager.

Preferred Qualifications & Education

• High School Diploma/GED.
• At least 1 year of sales experience, retail preferred.
• Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training.
• Strong leadership, motivation, and communication skills.
• Ability to train and develop team members.
• Independent judgment and discretion in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of retail practices and procedures.
• Flexible schedule including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
• Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements and Environment

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Extended periods on the sales floor.
• Experience as a team leader and in hiring/training teams.
