Job description

Purpose:

As a member of the store management team, assists the Store Manager in ensuring all operational, business, and personnel targets are achieved for the store. Oversees the daily operation of the store and assures compliance with all company policies and government legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Store Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the store to meet key performance indicators and profit and loss expectations, through a specific divisional responsibility (Sales or Operations).
  • Positively communicates and demonstrates the Brand values, attitude, and culture.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of all corporate programs, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Assists in the successful implementation of programs, policies, and store needs under the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Helps develop effective staffing plans, including recruitment, hiring, and training to reduce turnover.
  • Develops staff by providing performance feedback, coaching, and fostering a team environment to meet objectives.
  • Promotes a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and goals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Store Manager to develop action plans and achieve objectives.
  • Ensuring employees are trained in retail standards across all areas.
  • Managing recordkeeping related to HR processes.
  • Adapting to various market conditions and overcoming barriers.
  • Monitoring competitors and ensuring store competitiveness.
  • Working with the Store Manager on inventory and visual merchandising to maximize sales.
  • Supporting expense control, wage management, and cash handling.
  • Maintaining store and product security, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and clean store environment.
  • Communicating effectively with other store managers and adhering to visual merchandising standards.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient retail operational and selling skills.
  • Business management skills (fiscal and operational).
  • Strong coaching and talent management skills.
  • Effective prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and solve problems.
  • Computer skills including MS Office and quick adaptation to new systems.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 25 kg and standing for long periods.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Understanding of retail operations, cash procedures, and relevant legislation.
Qualifications:
  • College or University degree and 1 year of retail experience, preferably in sporting apparel & footwear; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
