This position is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the daily operations and management of the assigned store. The duties must ensure a quality service approach to employees, customers, and suppliers, in accordance with the Farm Boy Way.
Responsibilities:
- Provide superior customer service supporting Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
- Collaborate with Store Manager, Department Managers, and Retail Specialists to achieve strategic goals, including financial results.
- Communicate effectively to lead the team, including coaching, huddles, and training on metrics, product knowledge, and policies.
- Develop the team through interviewing, training, reviews, coaching, motivation, and recognition, maintaining confidentiality and trust.
- Promote company policies to ensure compliance, including policies from management meetings, manuals, and HR directives.
- Assist in implementing health and safety programs and act on recommendations from the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Participate in community events to maintain Farm Boy’s community presence.
- Support retail operations such as inventory management, quality control, merchandising, invoicing, scheduling, and payroll.
- Ensure store security, proper opening and closing procedures, and respond to emergencies or alarms.
- Manage financial information securely, oversee cash handling, refunds, audits, and floats.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business plus 5-7 years of managerial experience in retail, preferably in perishables, or equivalent education and experience.
- Certification in Public Health Food Handling, Smart Serve, Level A First Aid, and CPR, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
- Strong knowledge of retail food products and high standards of quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintaining priorities.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Proven team-building and participation skills.
- Ability to learn manual and automated systems and software, including Microsoft Office.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Fluency in English; French is an asset.
