Job summary

StreetSide Edmonton is seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities for multi-family homes in Edmonton and surrounding areas. You will enforce design, quality, and safety standards while guiding the on-site team and coordinating with trade partners.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, plus 1 year in residential construction and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in residential construction or homebuilding.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site construction of new homes throughout the building process.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure all employees and trades follow safety programs and regulations.
• Liaise with trade partners and suppliers to maintain positive relationships.
• Monitor work to ensure it meets company standards and building and safety code requirements.
• Complete required repairs and handle deficiencies.
• Monitor project progress and schedules; complete progress reports and logs.
• Supervise and guide on-site team members.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, Operations, as the Assistant Site Superintendentyou will oversee on-site construction activities and assist in ensuring construction follows established design and quality. You also enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing on-site construction of new homes throughout the building process.
• Promoting a safe work environment and ensuring all employees and trades work in a safe manner and follow Qualico’s Safety program and relevant safety legislation.
• Liaising and maintaining positive relationships with trade partners and suppliers.
• Monitoring work to ensure it meets Qualico’s standards and all building and safety code requirements.
• Completing required repairs and handling general deficiencies.
• Assisting in monitoring the project progress and schedules. Completing regular progress reports, checklists, logbook entries and other reports.
• Supervising and providing guidance to on-site team members.

• Comfortable using office equipment, Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and Teams), and construction management software (BuildPro, NewStar etc.).

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with drywall repairs, siliconing and painting is an asset.

Work Conditions

You primarily work on-site during regular business hours. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Travel to the regional office or other site locations is required. Overtime may occasionally be required.
