Job summary

Richardson International Limited is seeking an Assistant Shift Engineer (3rd Class Power Engineer) for the Yorkton Oilseed facility. You will assist the Shift Engineer in operating boilers, steam systems, ammonia refrigeration and related utilities.

You will monitor process parameters, run quality tests, support maintenance, and help maintain safety and regulatory compliance across the plant. The role offers growth opportunities and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent plus a 3rd Class Power Engineer license or 4th Class working towards their 3rd Class license.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Boiler and Cooling water system operation and Process operation experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions.
• Ability to multi-task and understand plant processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of boilers, steam distribution and condensate return systems.
• Operate ammonia refrigeration equipment and cooling water systems.
• Monitor process parameters and perform finished oil quality testing as required.
• Maintain operational log sheets and support preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and assist with turnarounds.
• Ensure health, safety, and company policies are followed.

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Shift Engineer (3rd Class Power Engineer) at our Yorkton - Oilseed location. The Assistant Shift Engineer (3rd Class Power Engineer) will assist the Shift Engineer with operation of the Process Boilers, Steam Distribution and Condensate Return System, the Ammonia Refrigeration System, the Compressed Air System and the Fire Protection System.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of the Deodorization process and hourly Deodorized oil testing
• Responsible for operation of the Waste Water treatment plant
• Performs annual turnaround maintenance on the equipment that we operate
• Act as primary control panel operator for the Utility systems and Deodorizing
• Operate Ammonia Refrigeration Equipment
• Operate Cooling water system
• Operating and monitoring all process parameters
• Troubleshooting any process upsets
• Filter changes as required on feed and discharge of deodorizing
• Operate High Pressure Steam Generator and respond to any upset conditions
• Monitoring finished oil quality and responding as required to upset conditions
• Maintain operational log sheets and perform finished oil quality testing as required
• Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to multi-task
• Good practical knowledge of all branches of engineering
• Good knowledge of the plant process and related equipment
