About The Opportunity

The Assistant Restaurant Manager will successfully direct and oversee all activities of the dining cabin and restaurant to ensure high-quality food and drinks, hospitable and efficient customer service, and profitable operations. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, will be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and will be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties. Performance will be measured by guest satisfaction scores, departmental tests, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the City Cruises’ team.

Customer Service

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Provides amazing hospitality to guests and shipmates as prescribed in RESPECT Service System
  • Rotates as shift manager and ensures adherence to cruise scripts, supervision of staff, quality meal service and entertainment
  • Gathers necessary information from other departments to ensure guest satisfaction (special requests, additional services, special timing, etc.)
  • Assists the Event Coordinator during boarding, greets and walks the guests to their table
  • In the absence of the Event Coordinator, greets and assists guests with reservations and shows them their table
  • Conducts daily stand-up briefing and communicates all necessary cruise information to staff
  • Maintains safety and sanitation standards
  • Develops and executes programs to improve service and product quality
  • Performs opening and closing duties, including stocking, cleaning, and safety checks
  • Handles cash and sales transactions accurately and reconciling sales
  • Practices first in, first out inventory procedures
  • Checks IDs for alcohol service to guests under 30

Leadership And Teamwork

  • Leads by example, maintaining professionalism and integrity
  • Develops teamwork and trains staff
  • Provides service during events as needed
  • Prepares requisitions and arranges services for special events
  • Supports employee engagement programs
  • Maintains good interdepartmental relationships

Administration

  • Attends meetings and assists with inventory and ordering
  • Prepares liquor, wine, and beer orders
  • Operates restaurant systems and reconciles sales
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintains appearance standards and punctuality

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years restaurant supervision experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 1-2 years additional experience; hospitality or culinary degree beneficial
  • Smart Serve and Food Handler’s Certificates required
  • Availability on major holidays
  • Strong math, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work flexible shifts
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in safety gear as required
