We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quality Manager who will assist the Quality Manager in overseeing all aspects of our Quality Assurance (QA/QC) and Food Safety Management Systems. The role is hands-on, involving the supervision of QA/QC activities, support for internal and external audits, and collaboration across departments to maintain and improve our food safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing :

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Assist in managing and improving the site’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs in alignment with company policies and GFSI standards.
  • Supervise QA and QC staff and daily activities to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Maintain High Standards

  • Lead or support internal and external audits, including customer, regulatory, and third-party audits (e.g., SQF, BRC).
  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of HACCP and other prerequisite programs.

Improve Processes

  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide training and mentorship to QA team members on food safety, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Support implementation of ERP systems related to quality processes; contribute to technology-driven improvements.

Communicate Across Cross Functional Teams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and R&D on quality-related initiatives.
  • Champion the quality team, through communication, knowledge and process development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related science field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Biology, or Biotechnology).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a QA Supervisor role in food processing or a related industry laboratory.
  • Certification/Training in HACCP, GFSI, Lead Auditing, or similar food safety systems.
  • Lead Auditor’s Certificate in Quality or Food Safety Management System (required).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present effectively at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • ERP experience required; programming experience and technology savvy are considered strong assets.
