Job description

Location: On-site in Japan

ECC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a ground-up construction project of a seven-story hotel in Japan. The project is expected to start in February or March 2025 and will last approximately 2.5 years. In this role, you will:

  1. Assist the Project Manager in planning and coordinating activities to meet project goals within time and budget constraints.
  2. Review project proposals to determine timelines, funding, staffing, and resource allocation.
  3. Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase, including recruitment and assignment of personnel.
  4. Direct and coordinate project personnel to ensure schedule and budget adherence.
  5. Review progress reports and adjust plans as needed.
  6. Prepare reports for management and clients.
  7. Consult with project team to provide technical advice and resolve issues.
  8. Develop and maintain baseline schedules, perform schedule updates, and prepare look-ahead schedules.
  9. Coordinate with project management on physical progress and schedule updates.
  10. Manage long-lead materials tracking and schedule updates.
  11. Prepare schedule projections and conduct time impact and critical path analyses.
  12. Collaborate with the Project Accountant on WBS, revenue forecasts, and cost projections.
  13. Review subcontractor invoices and handle other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in report writing, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting to diverse groups.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Experience implementing programs for complex issues.
  • Negotiation skills and persuasiveness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and Windows.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour supervisory, and annual refresher training.
  • Willingness to work on-site with periodic travel.
  • 2-5 years of construction engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, science, or related field; equivalent experience may suffice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with international projects.
  • Track record in multi-story, ground-up construction.
  • Experience managing projects over $10 million.

Salary range is $60,000 to $80,000 annually, with actual compensation influenced by qualifications and experience.
