We bring bold, innovative mass timber projects to life through expert planning, precision execution, and a collaborative team approach. Fast-growing and full of opportunity, Seagate is where passionate builders come to do their best work.

The Role

The Assistant Project Manager role at Seagate Mass Timber is designed for individuals ready to grow into a full Project Manager role and take on responsibility for real project work from day one. You’ll support project execution through scheduling, budgeting, documentation, and coordination - while learning our core systems and standards with mentorship from our Operations Manager.

This role requires someone highly organized, technically curious, and proactive. If you love learning, asking questions, and advancing your career quickly, this is the role for you.

We’ve successfully promoted APMs into PMs within 6–12 months based on performance. Clear milestones are in place to support your growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specs, contracts, and identify risks or inconsistencies.
  • Coordinate project schedules, procurement timelines, and daily operations.
  • Track project costs, labour hours, and materials.
  • Prepare documentation for RFIs and submittals.
  • Manage communications with suppliers, clients, and consultants, with increasing independence.
  • Create task lists, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to the team.
  • Identify and escalate project risks proactively.
  • Use Procore to manage project files and documentation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a Project Coordinator or APM role in construction.
  • Familiarity with mass timber, engineered wood products, or structural steel is an asset.
  • Self-directed, strong communicator who provides regular updates and asks the right questions.
  • Technically curious and eager to learn; you’ll be expected to grow quickly.
  • Experience using Procore or similar project management software.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A clear path to becoming a Project Manager, with development goals.
  • Extended health benefits and RRSP matching.
  • Paid vacation and learning & development support.
  • Tight-knit, growing team committed to sustainability, innovation, and fun.
  • A workplace where initiative and communication are rewarded with growth.
