Job summary

The John Howard Society of Saskatchewan is seeking an Assistant Program Coordinator for the My Place Housing First program. This permanent, full-time role supports daily operations and case management within a residential setting in Regina.

The APC will lead program activities, assist caseworkers, attend meetings with partners, and ensure services remain trauma-informed, restorative, and client-centered. Strong communication and organization are essential.

About the role

The Assistant Program Coordinator (APC) will provide daily support for household operations and case management.

What you'll do

Assistant Program Coordinator duties include the following :

• Oversee daily program operations.
• Provide support and guidance to program staff.
• Attend meetings with partnering agencies and funders as required.
• Support and assist caseworkers in crisis intervention and behavioral support for high‑risk participants
• Lead case planning and management for participants in the program to ensure the services being provided are risk reductive, individual, integrated, and participant orientated.
• Support participants using a trauma informed and restorative justice lens.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with landlords and other agencies.
• Role model and encourage independent problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Completing reporting and administrative tasks to program and funder standards.
• Provide on‑call and scheduling support as program requires.
• Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Other Requirements

• The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical demands of working in a residential home environment while providing quality support to clients.
• This position requires the ability to safely lift and carry household items, groceries, and other materials as part of daily responsibilities. The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and driving throughout the workday, with regular movement between tasks and client support activities.
• Candidates must be comfortable climbing stairs, performing general housekeeping duties, making beds, accessing storage areas, and completing seasonal outdoor tasks such as yard maintenance and snow removal. The position also requires the ability to push, pull, bend, and perform other physical movements necessary to maintain a safe and supportive home environment.
• Successful candidates will possess the physical stamina, mobility, and flexibility to perform the essential duties of the position safely and effectively while supporting the needs of clients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio‑economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare

Practical Experience:

• Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio‑economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.
• Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio‑economic status, religious preference, etc.

Other:

• First Aid & CPR, ASIST, Non‑violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset.
• Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver’s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.
• Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.

Capability:

• Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Requires flexibility and should be able to work varying shifts
