The Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 15, 2026.
We invite applications from researchers whose research is at the interface of scientific machine learning with PDEs, optimal transport or optimization. Our Scientific Computing, Machine Learning and PDE research group (SciMAP https://www.sfu.ca/math/research/scimap.html ) has established strengths in scientific computing, approximation theory, machine learning, the analysis of PDEs, and the mathematics of data. The successful candidate will build on and complement these strengths, develop a vibrant research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, provide service to the department, and contribute to building equitable, diverse and inclusive environments.
The Department of Mathematics maintains close connections with many units in the Faculties of Science, Applied Science, and others on campus, through long-standing research activities. SFU is a founding member of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), which promotes research, training, and outreach in the mathematical sciences across Western Canada. Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. The base salary range for this role at the Assistant Professor rank is $104,700 – $133,322 (dependent on experience).
