Overview

Assistant Professor (Teaching and Research) in Digital Storytelling in Health and Wellness Focus, Faculty of Nursing, University of Calgary. This tenure-track appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching and Research). Ideally, the appointment will commence January 1, 2026, or at a mutually agreeable date.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in nursing or a related discipline. Applicants will be early career academics establishing a research program using digital storytelling (DST) in health and wellness. DST sits in the intersection of artistic practice, health research, and knowledge translation and is a transdisciplinary activity that utilizes concepts from multiple disciplines to address complex health and wellness problems. Applicants will be health researchers who specialize in community engagement, health research, and DST facilitation and training in both academic and community settings. They will have experience using DST and other documentary-style films in educational and advocacy contexts with community organizations. Ideally, applicants will focus on DST within educational, advocacy, research, and therapeutic contexts.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a research program employing digital storytelling in health and wellness, with transdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students; contribute to curriculum and program development.
  • Engage with community partners and health agencies at local, provincial, national, and international levels.
  • Publish and disseminate research in relevant venues and seek external funding appropriate for an early-career researcher.
