The Department of Physics at the University of Guelph and Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics invite applications for a joint faculty position in theoretical physics at the Assistant Professor level. This is a tenure-track position at Guelph, combined with an Associate Research Faculty position at Perimeter Institute. The start date could be as early as 1 July 2025 or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.
The research focus will be in theoretical gravitational-wave physics. Applications in other areas such as astrophysics, cosmology, and high energy physics are also welcome. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in physics or a closely related field, demonstrate a strong research record, and show commitment to teaching and mentoring. The candidate will spend equal time at both institutions, with reduced teaching duties at Guelph and access to resources at both institutions. Perimeter Institute will provide 50% of the salary for six years, along with research and travel funds. After this period, upon positive review, there may be an offer for a new position with a split time commitment.
The Department of Physics at Guelph has 17 faculty members, over 120 undergraduate students, and more than 45 graduate students, conducting research across various physics disciplines.
