Job summary

The University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in hydrometallurgy with emphasis on solvent extraction and ion exchange. Start date July 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointee will develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise students, and contribute to service activities within the department and university.

Qualifications

• PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of research achievement or clear potential to excel in teaching and research relative to career stage.
• Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC within five years.

Responsibilities

• Develop an independent, internationally recognized research program.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise students.
• Provide service to the department and university.
• Collaborate with industrial sponsors and pursue external funding through government and industry.
