Job summary

The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver campus) seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in high-temperature metals processing. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, collaborate with industry, and contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels while

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related field is required.
Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC within five years of appointment.
Experience in high-temperature metals processing and heat transfer is essential.
A record of research achievement and teaching ability, or clear potential to excel in these areas.

Responsibilities

Develop an independent, internationally recognized research program.
Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise master’s and Ph.D. students.
Provide service to the University and broader community.
Seek funding from government and industry partners, individually and collaboratively.
