Amazon seeks an Onsite Medical Representative to support health and safety on site in Hamilton, Ontario. You will provide first aid, coordinate care, and participate in safety and case-management activities with WHS leadership.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, assisting with workers' compensation and return-to-work programs, and delivering on-site training for first aid, CPR, and AED. Shifts may include days, nights, and weekends. Ontario regulatory requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent diploma required.
  • Valid CPR course completion.
  • First aid, CPR and AED certification from AHA or Red Cross, or willingness to obtain within four weeks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ontario-specific: diploma plus WSIB first aid CPR/AED certification; professional licensure considerations (PCP/Paramedic or RN/RPN) may apply.

Job description

The Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team is deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of our people. WHS sets the strategic direction to provide resources, best practices, and safe environments to proactively manage the health and wellbeing of our workforce. To support these goals, Amazon is seeking an experienced and dynamic Onsite Medical Representative (OMR) to join our team. In this position, you will work closely with the WHS site manager, WHS specialist, and occasionally the Wellness Specialist (WS). This includes attending weekly associate safety committee meetings, greeting all new hires for the site or through daily one-on-one interaction. Additionally, the OMR will participate in weekly case management review meetings as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first aid support and make referrals to outside medical providers as necessary.
  • Minimize the AA risk of injury through awareness, education, and proactive engagement.
  • Maintain all records of care provided to AAs.
  • Coordinate and maintain the workers’ compensation and return to work programs for AAs with work-related injuries.
  • Provide daily activity logs and end of shift reports.
  • Engage with AAs and leadership on operations floor to provide coaching regarding observed at-risk work habits.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and ensure appropriate medical supply inventory is maintained.
  • Participate in training and certification to facilitate first aid, CPR and AED certifications classes.
  • Maintain all first aid, CPR, AED credentials.
  • Work flexible shifts which could include days, nights, holidays, and/or weekends.
  • Assist with random saliva drug testing protocols.
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
Basic Qualifications
  • - High school or equivalent diploma
  • - CPR course
  • - Valid card evidencing successful completion of a first aid, CPR, and AED course from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or willingness to obtain it within four weeks of employment
  • - Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Ontario:
    • High School or equivalent diploma; AND
    • Must have a valid card evidencing successful completion of standard first aid with CPR/AED level A or C from a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved certifying authority; AND
    • Must have one of the following:
      • Valid Provincial Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) Certification from the Ministry of Health AND/OR the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators; OR
      • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) from the Ministry of Health AND/OR the Provincial College of Nurses AND/OR Department of Health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • - Experience with workers' compensation
  • - Experience and certification in teaching first-aid, CPR and AED
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Job experience as a Military Medic (Canadian Armed Forces)
    • Certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from the Canadian Red Cross
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Experience with an industrial wellness program
    • Experience managing musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomics, and coaching on body mechanics
    • Demonstrated work experience with OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation
    • Proficient in digital recordkeeping
