The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of Academic Rheumatologist, to join the division based at University Health Network / Sinai Health System, with primary appointment at University Health Network (UHN). This full-time position will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and past experience. The Clinician Teacher position reflects a time distribution of approximately 70% clinical work and 30% of time related to teaching, scholarly and / or administrative duties. Expected start date is November 1, 2025, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have successfully completed subspecialty training in a recognized rheumatology postgraduate training program resulting in accepted certification as a rheumatologist. They must have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Anticipated compensation is approximately $250,000 - $300,000 per year (estimate based on fee-for-service billings for a Clinician Teacher).
The candidate must have advanced formal training in teaching / education and / or a track record of sustained excellence in teaching in the undergraduate, postgraduate and / or continuing professional development milieu, as demonstrated in a teaching dossier.
The successful candidate should have clinical expertise in complex rheumatic conditions, with experience caring for patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases. While the expectation is for clinical excellence in general rheumatology management, demonstrated expertise and leadership in field of Sjogren’s Syndrome will be a strong asset.
The clinical work will be predominantly in the outpatient setting but the successful candidate will be required to participate as an attending physician for the rheumatology consultation service at University Health Network / Mount Sinai Hospital and participate in the after-hours / weekend on- call schedule for the division, covering UHN and Mount Sinai Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in clinical and formal teaching and to participate in scholarly pursuits and administrative service within their scope of practice and expertise.
