Job summary

Starcom is seeking a Media Assistant to support the Planning team in Toronto. You will help manage media plans, assist with data preparation, and coordinate with local clients on tactical aspects. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

The role emphasizes detailed planning, budgeting support, and collaboration across teams to drive measurable results for campaigns. A bachelor’s degree and Excel proficiency are preferred.

  • Technical proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of producing accurate work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Planners and Supervisors in managing and executing approved media plans (all media).
  • Assist in the development and organization of data for plans and recommendations.
  • Communicate with local Field clients regarding tactical aspects of media plans.
  • Manage contracts/insertion orders and revisions with media vendors.
  • Input non-broadcast/OLV media buys and reconcile spending including actualizing media spend.
  • Assist with billing processes.
  • Update blocking charts, budgets, and budget summaries.
  • Assist with media research and day-to-day coordination with the creative account team.
  • Update competitive media reports and provide support for presentations.

Overview

The MediaAssistant is an important member of the Planning team which pursues and activates against meaningful insights with the goal of driving measurable results. Planning Assistants receive in-depth training and continue their professional development by gaining experience and skills via on-the job experience. The Planning Assistant’s key skills-set includes analytical skills, math proficiency, demonstrated creative thinking, and great attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Planners and Supervisors in managing and executing approved media plans (all media).
  • Assistin the development and organization of supportive data for plans and recommendations.
  • May often communicate with local Field clients regarding tactical aspects of the media plans and to assist in facilitating information and answering questions.
  • Manage contracts/ insertion orders and any resulting revisions with media vendors.
  • Responsible for inputting non-broadcast/OLV media buys and managing any discrepancy reconciliations including actualizing media spending
  • Assistwith billing process.
  • Responsible for updating blocking charts, budgets, and budget summaries
  • Assistwith media research and day-to-day communication with creative account team members as appropriate.
  • Update competitive media reports and technical support for presentation materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; degree or concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications preferred
  • Track record of success throughout post-secondary career and previous employment
  • Strong quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical proficiency, particularly with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Able to work successfully with teams, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and able to produce accurate work product
Additional information

Salary

Transparency matters to us. The salary for this position is $40,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and applicable certifications. This range reflects what we reasonably expect to offer based on current market data.
