Job summary

METRO in Ottawa is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager to join the Meat department in a permanent full-time role. You will assist the Meat Manager with product rotation, pricing, stocking and merchandise, while delivering strong customer service and leading department staff.

The position is unionized with a starting hourly wage of $19.60, with potential for higher wages based on experience and the collective agreement. Shifts include days, evenings and weekends at 250 Greenbank Rd.

Qualifications

• Meat experience with rotation and merchandising.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to stand for 4-8 hours, bend, twist and reach, lift up to 30 lbs.
• Available to work days, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, per the C.B.A.

• Ensures department is ready for business at all times.
• Implements and adheres to Customer Service Policy
• Adheres to Company policies and government regulations concerning health & safety, sanitation, security, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager
• Supports Meat Manager and directs activities pertaining to department staff, including hiring, coaching, and training.
• Supports Meat Manager for ensuring department standards
• Supports overall store operations including store opening and closing.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $19.60 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.

• Meat experience which includes excellent product knowledge and rotation and merchandising experience
• Superior customer service skills
• Capable of standing for a prolonged period of 4-8 hours; of bending, twisting and turning and reaching; and of lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Available to work days, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, as per the C.B.A
