Job summary

Metro Ottawa is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager for a permanent, full‑time role at 250 Greenbank Rd, Ottawa, ON. This unionized position starts with a wage of $19.60 per hour, with potential increases based on knowledge, skills and experience.

Shifts include days, evenings and weekends. You will receive, price, stock, rotate and merchandize meat products, support the Meat Manager, train staff, and help ensure department standards and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Meat experience with product knowledge and rotation/merchandising.
• Superior customer service skills.
• Capable of standing for long periods (4–8 hours) and lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Available to work days, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays per the C.B.A.

Responsibilities

• Receives, prices, stocks, rotates and merchandises products.
• Ensures department is ready for business at all times.
• Implements and adheres to Customer Service Policy.
• Adheres to company policies and government health & safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.
• Supports Meat Manager and directs activities pertaining to department staff, including hiring, coaching, and training.
• Supports Meat Manager for ensuring department standards.
• Supports overall store operations including opening and closing.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $19.60 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.
This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.
