Position Overview
Strathcona Beer Company is seeking a full-time Assistant Taproom Manager to support daily operations at our flagship East Van location. Reporting to the Taproom Manager, the Assistant Taproom Manager plays a key role in ensuring exceptional customer experiences, smooth operational flow, and strong team performance, while upholding Strathcona’s values of hospitality, quality, and community connection.
Responsibilities
- Operational Support:
- Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations, including scheduling, service execution, and inventory management.
- Support and manage the taproom’s reservation system to ensure timely responses and effective guest communication.
- Help ensure compliance with all health, safety, and liquor licensing regulations.
- Support operational procedures and contribute ideas for ongoing efficiency improvements.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and maintaining stock for beer, food, and supplies, following Ekos management procedures.
Customer Experience:- Lead by example in providing outstanding service and hospitality to all guests.
- Address guest inquiries and feedback professionally and courteously.
- Support the Taproom Manager in executing events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
Team Leadership:- Support supervision and development of front-of-house staff, including onboarding and ongoing training.
- Cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment focused on service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a shift lead in the absence of the Taproom Manager, ensuring smooth service flow and customer satisfaction.
Financial and Administrative Tasks:- Assist in cash handling, daily reconciliations, and reporting.
- Monitor inventory to reduce waste and control costs.
- Help track sales and suggest service initiatives to increase revenue.
Facilities and Maintenance:- Ensure the taproom remains clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Support opening, closing, and securing the premises as needed.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of leadership experience in hospitality, preferably in craft beer industry.
- Strong knowledge and passion for craft beer.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with POS systems (Toast or similar) and basic computer applications.
- Experience with reservation or guest management systems is an asset.
- Valid Serving It Right certification required.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
