Assistant Manager, Regulatory Trade Reporting (GWO)

Purpose:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for helping to drive an efficient and effective Regulatory Reporting & Control function within Global Wholesale Operations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for actioning daily controls as well as supporting projects.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  1. Ensuring Scotiabank’s trade and transaction reporting activities are in compliance with governing regulations and business requirements in all areas Scotiabank operates (MIFID 2, CIRO, CAT, SFTR, SMMD, Electronic Bluesheets).
  2. Identifying and escalating reporting breaks through daily reconciliation controls.
  3. Preparing management reports and dashboards for all levels of management.
  4. Remediating reporting breaks and enhancing controls in partnership with stakeholders, including Operational Risk Oversight, Technology, and Trade Repositories.
  5. Building and maintaining Subject Matter Expertise by understanding regulatory reporting requirements and knowledge of regulatory reporting/reporting logic across all jurisdictions.
  6. Analyzing the impact of regulatory changes and supporting the necessary changes to internal reporting, reconciliation, and other control processes.
  7. Collaborating with cross-functional teams within GWO to prioritize effort to ensure that regulatory reporting obligations are met in all jurisdictions.
  8. Actively participating and contributing in change management projects/initiatives to ensure that regulatory reporting requirements are working with adequate controls and appropriate metrics are incorporated into the KPI/KRI risk management platform.
  9. Continuously reviewing current processes and identifying opportunities for improvements to promote efficient and effective oversight processes.
  10. Creating and maintaining policies and procedure documents.
  11. Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  12. Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy of, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  1. Exceptional business analysis skills and demonstrated success participating in project lifecycle, including scope definition, business case development, requirements gathering, test script development, deployment, and implementation assistance.
  2. Experience in running daily controls including knowledge of escalation, remediation and management reporting.
  3. Knowledge of reporting requirements/reporting logic for various regimes (MiFID II, SFTR, CIRO, SMMD, CAT, FR2420, Electronic Bluesheets) would be an asset.
  4. Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, organizational skills and strong data mining skills.
  5. Demonstrated success working in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  6. Advanced communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely present to senior stakeholders.
  7. Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to gain confidence of stakeholders.
  8. Strong Technical skills: Power BI, Tableau, Data Structure, Documentation and VBA.
