Join RED Mountain Resort’s Lift Operations team as an Assistant Manager for the 2025/26 Winter Season. This leadership position supports the daily oversight of Station Leads and Lift Operators, ensuring smooth operations across all lift stations. The role involves a mix of administrative duties—such as scheduling, payroll support, and documentation—and on-mountain responsibilities, including staff support and operational response. Candidates must have lift operations experience and be confident skiers or snowboarders capable of traveling between lift stations.
Major Responsibilities
- Support the Lift Operations Manager in overseeing daily lift operations and departmental goals.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to Station Leads and Lift Operators.
- Review and collect daily logs, incident reports, staffing notes, and maintenance records from all stations.
- Assist with staff scheduling and ensure effective coverage across all lifts.
- Track employee hours and support the preparation of payroll submissions.
- Coordinate lift operations data for internal reporting and seasonal analysis.
- Respond to incidents, guest concerns, or staffing issues in the field as needed.
- Help implement and uphold all safety policies and CSA Z98 compliance.
- Travel between lift stations on skis or snowboard to monitor operations and support staff.
- Support training initiatives and ensure new and returning operators follow procedures.
- Participate in emergency response or evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Perform Lift Operator or Station Lead duties as needed during peak times or staffing shortages.
Key Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Working knowledge of CSA Z98 and RED Mountain’s operational procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience.
- High level of accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g. Google Sheets, Docs, scheduling platforms).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Calm and solution-focused under pressure.
- Professional, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to guest service.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma required.
- Lift 150 certification is an asset but not required (willingness to obtain preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 2 seasons of experience as a Lift Operator.
- Previous leadership or administrative experience is strongly preferred.
Physical And Other Requirements
- Intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability required to travel between lift stations.
- Able to lift 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Able to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in variable winter conditions.
