About the Role:
The Assistant Manager, Security & Fan Experience is primarily responsible for execution and development of fan experience & security operations during events at Rogers Place and in the Ice District, including outside security partners scheduling, deployments and training. The Assistant Manager is comfortable leading, mentoring and coaching part-time event team members and embodies a customer-centric mindset.
Your Focus in this Role:
- Accountable for 1/3 of the casual pool roster, to build rapport through consistent initiatives to retain best talents, and to provide performance driven feedback on an ongoing basis.
- Manage the day-to-day Fan Experience and Security operations for all OEG’s brands to deliver the best possible experience while working within budgets.
- Required to continuously lead, with an agile and efficient mindset, any prep before and in the moment action, to drive a flawless event.
- Represent Rogers Place and the Ice District as the lead on duty or the supporting lead for all types of events.
- Act as event commander for smaller events such as Oil Kings.
- Drive the team of part-time Supervisors to develop Fan-first skills and abilities through continued coaching and proactive deployment documents for each event.
- Work directly with the Managers, Fan Experience & Security and Coordinator, Scheduling and Staff Services to coordinate accurate staff deployments for all events.
- Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and training of all new Fan Experience and Security personnel.
- Assist in the development and documentation of all internal standard operating procedures for Fan Experience & Security.
- Work directly with and support the Coordinator, Scheduling and Staff Services with fine-tuning of scheduling, monitoring availabilities, and any vacancies leading up to all event nights.
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvements to all reporting processes, ensuring accurate feedback collection, service reporting, and fan safety.

Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of other education and experience.
- 3+ years management experience in a large public assembly facility; preferably with sports and entertainment.
- You currently obtain or are willing to obtain a Valid Alberta Security License.
- Proven knowledge & experience in performance management and tactical planning for major events.
- Effective supervisory and management experience, focused on performance development, leadership, and retention.
- Exemplary organizational skills, resourceful and proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
- Highly visible leader with a proven track record to successfully lead a multi-service team.
- Must be able to work a business hour and event-based schedule which includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Experience with the Incident Command System (ICS) is considered an asset.
- Experience with ABI MasterMind is considered an asset.
- Experience with CCURE, Victor, Genetec and Omnigo operating systems is considered an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM is considered an asset.
