Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of event management including, planning and execution of all the varsity home games as well as department events such as the Hall of Fame, the President’s Golf Tournament and Celebrations. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing internal and external relationships and partnerships in servicing these events. Leads high profile games in partnership with OSEG and external stake holders Panda Game, Capital Hoops, Colonel by Classic. Responsible for execution of over 100 home varsity games.

Qualifications

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
  • Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
  • Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context
  • Knowledge of operational event management and leadership concepts practices including event delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
  • Knowledge of game day planning and execution particularly in the sport industry
  • Knowledge of corporate event planning and execution
  • Knowledge of OUA and U Sports event and sport technical rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the university sport environment, as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions

Education And Experience

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of four years of event management experience, preference given to experience in managing sporting events, including three years of management and leadership experience
