Assistant Manager- Concord at Gerrie Electric Wholesale Ltd. Gerrie Electric is one of the largest independent electrical distributors with 24 locations in Ontario, over 400 employees, and a long-standing Canadian family-owned business founded in 1957. Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario (GTA). This is a full-time position requiring leadership across branch operations in the region.
What You Will Be Doing
- Oversee branch operations in the region to ensure smooth, efficient running while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Lead, coach, and develop branch staff; promote the Customer First - Employee Driven culture.
- Establish standard work schedules, ensure adherence to Gerrie policies and procedures, and manage vacation / sick coverage.
- Collaborate with the Branch / Regional Branch Manager (B / RBM) and Sales Team to address staffing needs and operational requirements.
- Coordinate monthly staff meetings with B / RBM and prepare agendas / minutes; assign action items.
- Support annual performance evaluations and identify internal training opportunities.
- Handle purchasing and inventory processes, including reallocation of staff to support shipping / receiving, counter, and cycle counting.
- Transfer materials between Gerrie Distribution Centre and branches as needed to meet customer requirements.
- Drive sales and marketing activities at the branch, manage select accounts, process orders, contracts, and pricing with the B / RBM, and promote promotions to customers.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting, compliance with ISO procedures, safety audits, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate and execute branch-related events and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean projects).
- Foster a professional, positive culture and open communication with staff, vendors, and customers.
What You Bring To The Table
- Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, or certificate) in Electrical related discipline or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of operational leadership experience, preferably in the electrical industry.
- Strong knowledge of operational leadership best practices, product knowledge, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead employees; strategic thinking about markets and competition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and analyze financial performance.
- Proven skills in strategic planning, decision making, time management, vendor relations, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
