Job summary

Pacific Coast Community Resources Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager to support people with diverse abilities in a home-like setting. You will influence team success, supervise multi-disciplinary staff, and coordinate community-based activities, using strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

The role emphasizes family-centered care, collaboration with directors, and maintaining a respectful, inclusive culture while meeting deadlines and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in humanities, social sciences or related field with educational preparation for manager/administrator.
• Minimum 1–3 years experience in a health management role.
• Knowledge of and/or experience in a unionized environment.
• Standard First Aid with CPR certificate.
• Satisfactory physician’s assessment of fitness to work.
• Criminal record clearance.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor program delivery, planning and organizational leadership.
• Support people with complex and medical behavioural needs.
• Coordinate special projects as assigned and act as a community liaison.
• Report to the Regional Manager and Directors and supervise multi/interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism across multiple projects.
• Provide direction and support to team members to manage conflict constructively.
• Schedule and attend staff meetings and participate in required meetings.

About the Role

As our Assistant Manager, you will use your expertise to make a significant contribution to the people, caregivers, and communities we serve. Through a family-centred approach, you will provide support in a safe home environment to people who may present complex behaviours, as well as people with diverse abilities. Your natural ability to care for others, working both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, will allow you to influence your team’s success.

You will

• Monitor program delivery, planning, and organizational leadership
• Have experience supporting people with both complex and medical behavioural needs
• Act as a community liaison and coordinate special projects as assigned
• Report to the Regional Manager and Directors
• Demonstrate ability to manage and supervise multi/interdisciplinary teams using strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and conflict resolution skills
• Manage multiple projects with a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism
• Use sound judgment and be able to perform well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Conceptualize new programs and services and experience in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing community-based activities and programs in a collaborative manner
• Provide services in a manner that supports and reflects positive cultural practices
• Use highly developed communication skills, both oral and written
• Recruit, provide orientation to, schedule and evaluate personnel
• Provide direction, guidance and support for team members to manage conflict openly and constructively
• Schedule and attend staff meetings and attend and participate in other meetings as required
• Maintain an attitude of caring, respect and optimism for families, representatives and community members
• Ensure the home is maintained in a neat and clean state at all times

What you bring

• A degree in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field with educational preparation for the role of manager/administrator
• Minimum 1 – 3 years experience in a health management role required
  *other combinations of education and experience may be considered*
• Knowledge of and or experience working within a unionized environment
• Standard First Aid with CPR certificate
• Possess a satisfactory physician’s assessment of fitness to work
• Satisfactory criminal record clearance
• Have a valid driver's license, access to a safe and reliable vehicle and the ability to travel
