Job description

Purpose:

As a member of the store management team, assists the Store Manager in ensuring all operational, business, and personnel targets are achieved for the store. Oversees the daily operation of the store and assures compliance with all company policies and government legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Through a specific divisional responsibility (Sales or Operations), supports the Store Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the store to ensure the store meets key performance indicators and profit and loss expectations.
  • Positively communicates and demonstrates the Brand values, attitude, and culture.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of all corporate programs, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Supports the Store Manager in implementing programs, policies, routines, seasonal initiatives, and store-specific needs.
  • Assists in developing effective succession, recruiting, hiring, and training plans to reduce store turnover.
  • Develops staff through performance evaluation, coaching, training, and fostering a team environment to meet objectives.
  • Promotes a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and creating an efficient work environment.
  • Works with the Store Manager to develop action plans and achieve objectives within timelines.
  • Ensures all employees are trained in retail standards across various areas including business, operations, sales, customer service, and visual merchandising.
  • Completes recordkeeping related to hiring, payroll, performance, disciplinary actions, and separations.
  • Produces results under various market conditions, overcoming barriers in compliance with guidelines.
  • Regularly shops competitors to ensure marketplace competitiveness.
  • Works with the Store Manager on inventory levels and styling to maximize sales.
  • Supports in maintaining wage costs and expense control, reviewing results with the management team.
  • Ensures cash management accuracy and minimizes shrinkage.
  • Maintains store and product security systems and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Ensures adherence to policies regarding POS system integrity and maintains confidentiality of retail information.
  • Ensures compliance with employment standards and health and safety legislation.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and clean store environment.
  • Develops effective communication with other store managers.
  • Adheres to visual merchandising guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and District Manager.

  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and peak periods.
  • Understanding of retail operations, cash procedures, and relevant legislation.

Qualifications:
  • College or University degree and 1 year of retail experience, preferably in sporting apparel & footwear industry; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
