Assistant Maintenance Manager (Remote Lodge Resort)

Bell 2 Lodge/Last Frontier Heliskiing is seeking an enthusiastic individual for a full-time, year-round position as Assistant Maintenance Manager. Bell 2 Lodge operates as Last Frontier Heliskiing during winter and as a hotel during spring, summer, and fall.

The Assistant Maintenance Manager leads maintenance systems, oversees continuous improvement of the Lodge, and executes long-term strategic plans. Operating remotely requires troubleshooting on-site, motivating the team, and making crucial decisions quickly.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Inspect major systems (generator, sewage treatment, kitchen equipment, hot tub, mechanical systems) and maintain logs.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing daily maintenance operations.
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise, and motivate maintenance staff.
  • Ensure accurate, organized documentation; assist with reports, purchase orders, and maintenance schedules.
  • Plan and execute special projects.
  • Oversee and ensure completion of preventative maintenance.
  • Manage and delegate tasks within the team.

Preferred skills and core competencies include:

  • Proven experience in infrastructure management (water treatment, wastewater, power generation, hot tubs, small vehicles).
  • Experience operating equipment like backhoe loaders, skid steers, chainsaws, log splitters.
  • Skills in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry.
  • Experience working with contractors and managing renovation projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair skills.
  • Facility management certification or related experience.
  • Strong data collection abilities.
  • Physical fitness to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Compliance with health and safety policies.
  • First Aid Level 3 (asset).
  • Class 5 Driver’s License required.
Other Perks & Benefits

Shifts are three weeks on, one week off, with ten-hour days. Transfers to and from Terrace are available. Accommodation and meals are provided during rotation; flights are not included. Winter benefits include subsidized accommodation, transfers, and ski passes for Smithers.*Pets are not accommodated.*
