A prominent library is seeking an Assistant Head of Children's Services to oversee and enhance services for children. This full-time role involves creating engaging programs, managing collections, and ensuring an inviting environment. Candidates should possess a Master’s in Library Science and be proficient with modern technologies, showcasing excellent communication and organizational skills.
The Goodnow Library is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual who can provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for children and families. Under the supervision of the Head of Children’s Services, the Assistant Head of Children’s Services will play a vital role in the development and implementation of outstanding Library programs and services for children. This individual will perform a wide variety of professional children’s librarian work including, but not limited to, performing story times; creating promotional materials; running special programs such as book clubs, library-wide programs, etc.; providing reader’s advisory services; responding to reference questions; and curating library collections. Preferred candidates will be creative, innovative, fun, be able to work independently, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. A positive attitude, flexibility, and desire to learn are essential.
Ability to effectively communicate with patrons and staff, and present ideas and questions in a clear manner.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to resolve conflicts and make decisions.
Working knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including Google Workplace, Canva, marketing software, Microsoft suite.
Comfortable using social media to promote the Library.
