Your responsibilities as Assistant
- grocery manager:
- Implement the directives of the grocery manager regarding task assignment, purchasing and receiving goods, scheduling employees, maintaining order and discipline in the department, etc.
- Replace the grocery manager when absent and perform their tasks (coordinate the department, schedule staff, handle purchases, promotions, inventories, profit calculations, data entry, etc.)
- Responsible for certain department purchases from designated suppliers.
- Receive company representatives with whom the department deals.
- Receive and count goods intended for sale such as grocery, dairy, frozen products, and other items sold by the department. Ensure proper placement in storage, refrigerator, freezer, or other designated areas.
- Label and shelve products according to departmental rules.
- Update prices on shelves and products as needed.
- Rotate stock and keep work areas clean.
- Assist customers in the department.
- Ensure employees wear required safety equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the department.
- Keep various inventories in the grocery department.
- Promote sales of products and services offered by the department.
- Perform any other related tasks as required by immediate supervisor.
Experience:
- Relevant experience in a grocery department;
- Management experience is an asset.
