Position Details:

This is a full-time salary position: Monday – Friday, 1st Shift.

The Assistant General Counsel will be a key member of the Legal Department, reporting to the VP, Associate Deputy General Counsel. This role involves collaboration with legal team members and business development and operations personnel across Canada, the US, and some international locations. The primary focus will be supporting the company's Pharma & Consumer Health (PCH) business unit by providing legal advice, negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, and handling mergers and acquisitions, among other responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, analyze, structure, and negotiate various commercial agreements including manufacturing, packaging, development, purchase, supply, license, and master service agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and training to business personnel on compliance, customer and vendor relations, contract matters, and regulatory issues.
  • Assist with merger and acquisition activities.
  • Support dispute resolution, litigation, and coordinate with outside counsel.
  • Advise senior management on legal matters affecting business operations and objectives.
  • Assess legal risks and provide cost-benefit analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Law degree and ability to practice as an in-house lawyer in Canada, supporting North American business.
  • At least 5+ years of transactional/commercial law experience, ideally in large law firms or in-house within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical legal matters, either in-house, law firms, or government agencies.
  • Legal practice eligibility in NJ.
  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation of Canadian equivalency (e.g., WES).
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds.
