Qualifications

  • Active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or Registered Dietitian required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.

Job description

The Opportunity
The Assistant Food and Nutrition Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of food service operations. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, nutritious meals and outstanding customer service while adhering to food safety regulations and dietary guidelines. This position requires attention to detail and a commitment to providing nutritious meals while adhering to dietary requirements and safety standards.

What You Will Do

  1. Completing Resident Nutritional Assessments; including quarterly assessments, MDS, including RAPs where implemented, QI’s and follow up documentation and intervention as needed, on residents identified at moderate and low nutritional risk.
  2. Manages, implements, communicates, and supports residents and/or families in the involvement and participation in determining appropriate nutritional care needs.
  3. Visits residents during mealtimes to monitor resident acceptability of food.
  4. Monitors all procedures for resident meal service to ensure the required standards are maintained.
  5. Implements and maintains the activities of the Quality Improvement audit schedule.
  6. Reports directly to the Administrator on all aspects concerning the operation of the dietary department.

What You Bring

  1. Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management from a recognized program.
  2. Must be an active Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or a Registered Dietitian.
  3. Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  4. Minimum 2 to 3 years of leading experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  5. Previous experience in a Healthcare or Retirement setting is preferred.
  6. Experienced with training and supervising front line staff.
