Job description

Given the nature of Langdon Hall as a unique luxury boutique property, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will serve as an ambassador for the hotel and be a multi-functional individual who is driven to always exceed guests' expectations with an attention to detail. This individual possesses strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards their work and colleagues, handling pressure situations with quick and efficient thinking.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning training, scheduling, and supervising team members
  • Ensuring team member education is provided to dining room personnel in accordance with the education plan, and providing on-the-job training. Conduct pre-meal meetings with the Executive Chef.
  • Arranging seating accommodations, greeting guests and team members, and maintaining a friendly environment
  • Being on the floor at all times during meal periods, prioritizing guest comfort and service
  • Supervising the physical appearance of the area and work stations, including cleaning schedules
  • Supervising table appearance, including linens, silverware, setup, and centerpieces, as well as closing duties
  • Scheduling work assignments, assigning tasks, and ensuring standards are met
  • Maintaining attendance records, reservations, incident reports, schedules, and special functions
  • Assisting team members on the floor when needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in a food and beverage role, with 2 years in a similar supervisory role
  • Thorough knowledge of fine dining service procedures and functions
  • Excellent knowledge of food and wine pairing
  • In-depth food and preparation knowledge
  • Supervisory experience in front-of-house operations within fine dining, hotel, club, or similar community
  • Smart Serve certified
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand, empathize, and work effectively with guests, peers, supervisors, and subordinates
  • High level of interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend instructions in English
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Effective communication at all organizational levels
  • Teamwork and cooperation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
