Job description

General Duties:

Works under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Engineer (1st Class) and the Shift Engineer (2nd Class).

Operating Duties:

1. Assist in the operation of the COGEN (future), boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and related equipment throughout the campus.
2. Perform frequent tests on boiler water, make-up water, and condensate, and adjust chemical feed rates to ensure chemical concentrations are within recommended limits to prevent corrosion and maintain system integrity.
3. Make daily rounds and maintain records in equipment logs for chillers and associated equipment.
4. Report any issues to the Shift Engineer and participate in resolving them.
5. Investigate issues called in during quiet hours.
6. Adjust control settings and equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation and reliable service.
7. Participate in daily maintenance of the Central Heating Plant equipment.
8. Conduct seasonal cleaning of chillers, cooling towers, and associated equipment.
9. Maintain water treatment by completing required testing on cooling towers and chilled water.
10. Provide relief duties as needed.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Engineer or their delegate.
