Job Description

The Assistant Electrical Engineer will assist project teams in creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various sectors including power, process, corporate, healthcare, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The role involves working throughout the design and construction phases, adapting electrical plans to meet budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Substation Design

Design of high voltage (13,000 to 500,000 volts) electrical substations, including layout, power system analysis, and control/relay systems for diverse clients nationwide.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the electrical design of projects from conceptualization to completion.
  2. Review and modify production drawings for various project types, such as power plants, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational, commercial, and government/military facilities.
  3. Design electrical components based on project needs and manager directives.
  4. Apply electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures relevant to the industry.
  5. Research and compile project-related data as required.
  6. Update and correct drawings using CAD software, verifying accuracy.
  7. Support client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  8. Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited program; or a related Engineering Technology degree with successful FE exam completion.
  • Prior internship or consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Methodical and analytical work approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electrical analysis software (e.g., RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla).
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
