Job description

ESFM is the corporate Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) division of Compass Group Canada operating in the business & industry sector. Along with providing IFM services to the Canadian Headquarters of several multi-national businesses, ESFM’s list of clients include household names in the Telecommunications, Entertainment, Pharmaceutical, Gas & Oil, Food Processing and Automotive markets.

Job Summary

Now, if you were to come on board as our Assistant District Manager, Facilities, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  1. Conduct monthly safety audits. Provide safety updates and information on site conditions to direct reports and contractors.
  2. Manage budgetary needs, monitor expenditures, and take corrective action when needed.
  3. Support maintenance services and repairs for buildings, equipment, and grounds, including snow removal. Provide leadership and consultancy for the plant shutdowns.
  4. Lead the facilities' contract compliance and KPIs per the contracts.
  5. Supervise subordinate personnel, including hiring, payroll, delegating assignments, scheduling, disciplinary actions, training, coaching, monitoring, and evaluating performance.
  6. Create Career Development Plans for the hourly team members.
  7. Provide technical consultancy to subordinate supervisors/managers and skilled and semi-skilled workers.
  8. Develop relationships and solid communication lines with the ESFM team and the client.
  9. Compile necessary information for monthly client update meetings.
  10. Support Quarterly Business Review (QBR) meetings and update the agenda.
  11. Verify work for completion and quality and approve site invoices.
  12. Attend client operations meetings (daily and monthly) keeping teams abreast of all activities.
  13. Submit reports for any impact on production, loss of utilities, fire alarms, and severe injuries.
  14. Lead and manage glidepath savings projects to ensure the achievement of targeted cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
  15. Manage and engage with Union representatives.
  16. Hiring and onboarding of new associates.
  17. Input of payroll submissions, approvals and adjustments.
  18. Vendor management including ISN compliance and supply order approvals.
  19. Lead housekeeping services for all sites.
  20. Backfill Unit Manager leaves, vacation, illness.
  21. Other responsibilities as assigned by Senior Management.

  2. Skilled with MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint Smart Sheet and Teams.
  3. Preference for education in engineering/technical field (Electrical/mechanical/chemical engineering).
  4. Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  5. Ability to read, understand and interpret technical documentation.
  6. Demonstrated experience in facilities contract governance and compliance.
  7. Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenditure.
  8. Technical expertise in maintenance and repair services.
  9. Knowledge of safety compliance and audit procedures.
  10. Data analysis for savings initiatives or scope changes.
