Job description

Tyndale is a Christian university that prepares leaders for work in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, ministry and the global mission of the church. POSITION PURPOSE

The Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions provides leadership to the new student recruitment process for undergraduate admissions at Tyndale University by overseeing the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives to achieve recruitment objectives. While the focus will be on undergraduate students, efforts to promote all Tyndale University programs are taken at every possible opportunity as well.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • In conjunction with the Director of Admissions and in consultation with the Director of Marketing & Communication, develop marketing and recruitment strategies for each stage of the undergraduate admissions funnel.
  • Ensure the implementation of undergraduate marketing and recruitment strategies and achievement of short and long-range targets.
  • Recruit, develop, motivate, lead, and mentor direct reports.
  • Ensure that recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of department team member(s) are based on agreed-upon measurable objectives (recruitment and marketing); take corrective action where necessary.
  • Create and sustain an environment of excellence and professionalism in customer service and teamwork.
  • Engage with faculty to look for opportunities to include them in the recruitment of new students.

Recruitment

  • Ensure well-qualified undergraduate students are recruited to Tyndale University by developing and regularly updating recruitment strategies and processes.
  • Oversee the direct recruitment and application processing for dual-enrollment students. This position is an admissions specialist for Tyndale’s dual-enrollment options.
  • Manage the day-to-day oversight of all undergraduate recruitment and application processing done by admissions counsellors including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE) and all similar first-entry programs.
  • Represent Tyndale at recruitment activities to generate prospects.
  • Initiate, plan, coordinate, and participate in recruitment-oriented events and programs on and off campus, including weekdays, evenings and weekends.
  • Contact prospective students (inquiries and applicants) in various ways to provide counselling towards undergraduate education.
  • Work closely with other members of the Admissions team to follow up with prospective students and applicants.
  • Interface with other stakeholders and departments on campus to achieve Admissions goals.
  • Generate and analyze reports to identify trends in the admissions funnel, track progress towards recruitment goals and identify gaps at each stage of the funnel.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

a) Education

  • Undergraduate degree in business, communication, marketing or a related field; Master’s degree considered an asset
  • Tyndale University degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience (experience with theological or faith-based graduate education preferred)

b) Experience

  • 3-5 years of sales or recruiting experience
  • Must have experience in providing leadership and supervision to others, including managing staff towards goals
  • Data analysis experience preferred

c) Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct data analysis
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills with considerable experience speaking to audiences of all sizes
  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment and computer software

  • Demonstrates leadership skills

e) Physical and Mental Demands

  • Regular work schedule requires non-traditional hours (i.e. evenings and weekends)

Salary Range: $54,000 - $57,000
