Hearts in Bloom Academy, a welcoming Christian educational daycare and preschool located in Mississauga, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with proven leadership abilities to join our dedicated team as an Assistant Director. We provide an emergent curriculum, nurturing children's natural curiosity through meaningful experiences and engaging, educational environments.

Why Choose Hearts in Bloom Academy?

  • Become part of a supportive, values-driven Christian educational community.

  • Lead within a dynamic role blending classroom engagement and operational management.

  • Benefit from ongoing professional growth and leadership development opportunities.

About the Role:

As our Assistant Director, you will directly support the Centre Director, combining classroom leadership with management responsibilities. Your role includes mentoring educators, guiding emergent curriculum development, overseeing centre operations, and maintaining high-quality care in alignment with CCEYA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Leadership:

  • Act as Lead RECE, mentoring and guiding educators in curriculum delivery.

  • Plan and implement engaging activities—storytelling, arts, community outings—aligned with emergent curriculum practices.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Oversee daily routines (meal times, dressing, toileting).

Program Development & Family Engagement:

  • Develop and deliver programming based on ELECT and the How Does Learning Happen? framework.

  • Professionally manage enrolment processes, billing (bi-weekly), subsidies, attendance tracking, and child records.

  • Foster strong partnerships with parents through compassionate, clear communication regarding their child’s development and centre activities.

Staff Mentorship & Support:

  • Support the Director in managing staff scheduling, attendance, and payroll.

  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing mentoring of educators, providing feedback, coaching, and professional goal-setting.

  • Co-lead staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training initiatives.

Operational Leadership:

  • Manage centre operations seamlessly in the Director’s absence.

  • Prepare and present compliance reports in line with licensing requirements, health & safety standards, and centre policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (RECE required).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as RECE in licensed childcare settings.

  • At least 1-2 years of demonstrated leadership experience (Assistant Director, Supervisor, or Room Leader).

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of CCEYA regulations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with childcare management software (Lillio) considered an asset.

Certifications & Conditions:

  • Valid First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification.

  • Active, good-standing registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (membership number required upon application).

  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required prior to employment).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organized, empathetic, and approachable.

  • Ability to professionally manage complex and sensitive situations calmly.

  • Flexibility to participate in occasional after-hours events or meetings.

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented professional who thrives collaboratively.
