Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Wellness (ADW), reporting to the Director of Wellness, oversees daily wellness operations, including planning, coordination, supervision, and leadership within assigned neighborhoods, ensuring compliance with Amica standards and regulations.

Key Duties

1. Collaborate with the Director of Wellness to develop, implement, and evaluate nursing services, ensuring accountability and compliance. Responsibilities include assessment of prospective residents, care planning, staff scheduling, incident investigation, complaint resolution, staff mentoring, training, safety policy evaluation, resident and family relationship management, and departmental budgeting.
2. Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team to develop holistic resident care plans and communicate effectively with other departments and leadership.
3. Keep the Director of Wellness informed of significant issues and take corrective actions as needed.
4. In the absence of the Director of Wellness, assume departmental responsibilities.
5. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, complying with relevant legislation and policies.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) from a recognized program, with current certification from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience as an RPN.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.

Knowledge:

• Seniors’ care, aging, dementia, diversity, healthcare, and memory care issues.
• Leadership practices, legislative regulations, mobility aids, and safety legislation.

Skills & Abilities:

• Staff supervision, organization, motivation, communication, budgeting, relationship-building, organizational skills, respect, confidentiality, and flexibility.

Personal Qualities:

• Dedication to senior care, approachability, tact, discretion, initiative, resident-centeredness.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Courses in gerontology, aging, or dementia; experience with YARDI or senior living environments preferred.
