Description

Emory Healthcare is an academic medical center with a high acuity patient population. Our pharmacy staff works side by side with our fellow health care providers creating an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. The Pharmacy at Emory’s goal is to provide patient- and family-centered medication management to the patients we serve and defining a new standard of care for humankind.

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Clinic Pharmacy Services are to assist in coordinating and directing day-to-day operations for the hospital pharmacy department; oversee quality assurance, clinical and administrative services, staff development programs, and the development of policies and procedures. Serve as a liaison with hospital administrators, staff, and other departments to ensure the flow of accurate and timely information. Supervise staff; assist in developing the department budget and ensure that daily activities are compliant with federal, state, and organizational regulations.

  • Assist with the planning, administration, and monitoring of the department's capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets; review prior budget expenses, regularly review year-to-date expenses, investigate variances and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist in developing departmental short- and long-term goals and objectives. Analyze departmental strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints to give direction to staff in working toward meeting objectives. Seek input and recommendations from staff on ways to improve operations. Establish, administer, and communicate policies, procedures, and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines. Communicate and monitor regulatory changes and their impacts on compliance with standards and guidelines.
  • Manage staff and employee performance. Resolve human resource-related issues, determine staffing needs, interview and hire staff. Provide ongoing performance feedback, address problems, verify competency, and identify and suggest ways to develop skills. Determine disciplinary, termination, and salary actions. Monitor and direct and redirect workflow as necessary to meet established levels of productivity.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate department programs for quality assurance, clinical, and support services provided by the pharmacy to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations. Assist with department quality assurance activities for compliance with organizational, state, and federal regulatory standards. Review documentation which is completed on each incident in the pharmacy and incorporate pertinent information in a routine hospital information report.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and maintenance of an online, electronic database and computerized system for pharmacy services. Collect, organize, and analyze data to generate and provide accurate and complete reports for management and/or regulatory agencies. Coordinate activities which ensure the security of department records, cash, and confidential or sensitive information; this includes issuing authorization codes for computer access, telephones, beepers, and cash registers.
  • Work with manager to formulate a plan for professional development. Provide opportunities for the professional development of department staff to promote a knowledge of current trends, and practices in pharmaceutical services and to promote leading-edge technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy. Master's degree preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the state of Georgia.
  • Five years of clinical experience of which three years are in a management role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
