Responsibilities:
The Construction Division of Makivvik is a non-profit organization responsible for implementing the Inuit Housing Program in Nunavik. Its main objective is to build quality housing while maximizing employment opportunities for Inuit, providing training, and promoting the local economy.
- Direct and oversee all accounting functions (general accounting, payroll, payables/receivables, cost accounting, etc.);
- Supervise the production of various reports (CCQ, corporate taxes, deductions at source, employee contributions, etc.);
- Manage internal and external audits for financial statements and compliance reporting;
- Ensure compliance with financial laws and guidelines;
- Collaborate with the Operations Section providing financial analyses related to project and program management, capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, project monitoring, and budget monitoring;
- Review, coordinate, and monitor revenues and expenditures, reporting variances and significant issues;
- Implement and manage internal controls in line with financial policies, processes, and procedures;
- Oversee and approve all operating and capital expenses for the division;
- Maintain the integrity of financial reporting and controls, including accounting policies and procedures;
- Support accounting operations of the subsidiary, Kautaq Construction Inc.;
- Manage the insurance portfolio for both the Construction Division and Kautaq Construction Inc.;
- Manage a team of approximately ten employees;
- Handle hiring, training, mentoring, and supervising accounting staff;
- Be available to travel as needed;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting;
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset;
- At least ten (10) years of experience in a related field;
- Proficiency in at least two of the three languages: Inuktitut, English, and French;
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles;
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports and projections;
- Ability to facilitate group meetings;
- Advanced skills in accounting software and spreadsheet applications;
- Attention to detail and high accuracy;
- High integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
- Excellent analytical, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
